Δεν γίνεται καμία ανασύνθεση πάνω στην αρχική σύνθεση της εικόνας ούτε άλλη επέμβαση με σκοπό την αναπροσαρμογή της αρχικής ιδέας της. ……μιά τέχνη που ήθελα να έχει τα τυπικά εικαστικά χαρακτηριστικά της εικόνας. Τη σύνθεση ,το σχέδιο και τη φόρμα. Ίσως αυτό να οφείλεται στην παιδεία που πήρα, αλλά πιστεύω πώς τα κάθε είδους περιττά ποικίλματα όπως η έμφαση, η επισήμανση, τα κάθε λογής μηνύματα και υποβολές προς τον θεατή, μόνο κακό κάνουν στην εικόνα, την ευτελίζουν και υποτιμούν την νοημοσύνη του θεατή. Μέσα στο δικό μου μυαλό, σχεδόν μόνιμα, υπάρχει η έγνοια της δικής μου σχέσης με τις καταστάσεις που αντιλαμβάνομαι γύρω μου, από τις εικόνες ανθρώπων, πραγμάτων, κτισμάτων, ακόμη και τοπίων. Δεν σταματώ να αναρωτιέμαι αν πράγματι, αυτό που βλέπω, είναι αυτό που καθορίζει τη ζωή μας ή κάτι άλλο, που δεν έχω ακόμη καταλάβει. Έχω καλλιεργήσει τώρα πια, την εμμονή ότι η φροντίδα των στοιχείων της φωτογραφικής εικόνας, σύνθεση κτλ. βοηθούν, ίσως και να καθορίζουν την επιτυχημένη καταγραφή μίας κατάστασης, με ειλικρίνεια. Κάτι, ας πούμε, σαν καλή εκτέλεση μουσικού έργου. Όταν αυτό συμβαίνει τότε η εικόνα πείθει, όποια και να είναι η μετάφραση που θα κάνει ο εκάστοτε αποδέκτης. Θεωρώντας λοιπόν, πολύ εποικοδομητική αλλά και άκρως προσωπική τη σχέση του καθενός μας με την εικόνα, ας πούμε ένα παιχνίδι του μυαλού και της φαντασίας μας, αποφεύγω με σύστημα και συνέπεια να επεμβαίνω σε αυτή τη διαδικασία, δίνοντας τίτλους στις φωτογραφίες μου. Θέλω να αφήνω τον θεατή να κάνει ότι ακριβώς εκείνος θέλει. Να βρει ή όχι. Να δει ή όχι. Όπως αισθάνεται ο καθένας, δεν πιστεύω ότι πρέπει να ανακατατεύομαι σε αυτό. Η δική μου δουλειά έτσι και αλλιώς έχει γίνει προ πολλού. All my images are products of my own technical processing irrespective of method. There is no restructuring of the original composition of the image nor any interference to readjust the original concept ...an art that I felt should have the essential artistic elements of the image. Composition, drawing and form. That might have been due to my education although I believe that all sorts of un-necessary frills such as the emphasis, the evocation and every kind of message and suggestion towards the viewer, can only harm the image by cheapening it and underestimating the viewer’s intellect. My constant striving is to relate conditions around me as I perceive them whether that is human form, or the shape of objects, buildings, even landscapes. I cannot stop wondering whether what I see really determines our life or something else which eludes me. I have now come to the conclusion that caring for the elements of the photograph, such as composition etc., will assist or even determine with sincerity the successful depiction of a situation. A bit like the faithful performance of a musical piece. When this happens, the picture is convincing, whatever the effect on each viewer. In believing therefore, as very constructive but utterly personal each and everyone’s relation with the image, an interplay between the brain and the imagination, I refuse systematically and without exception, to interfere in this procedure, giving titles to my photographs. I want to allow the viewer to do what he wants. To find or not to find. To see and not to see. Let everyone feel without me interfering. Anyway, my work has already been done long time ago.
